Brand NEIPA

Tap to rate

Brand NEIPA began as a special for Pinkpop 2023: for the Limburg festival, brewmaster Nils Reichhardt brewed a New England IPA, and its success turned it into a regular beer. It is hazy and light at 5.0%, with a lemony aroma and a light bitter finish. Water, barley and wheat malt, oat flakes, hops and yeast make it.

◎ Appearance

A pale golden haze dominates the glass, with suspended particles creating a soft, diffused appearance characteristic of the New England style. The head forms quickly and holds with moderate persistence, displaying fine Schaumhaftung along the glass. Carbonation appears gentle and refined, contributing to the beer's light, approachable presentation.

◌ Aroma

Bright lemon and citrus notes lead the nose, with pronounced fresh hop character bringing herbal and slightly grassy undertones. Wheat malt contributes a soft, bready whisper beneath the hop-forward profile, while yeast adds a subtle fruity dimension without dominating. The overall aromatic impression is crisp and inviting, with no harshness or oxidation.

◐ Taste

Entry is clean and light-bodied, with citrus and wheat malt working in immediate balance. The mid-palate develops a pleasant bitterness around 50 IBU—present but not aggressive—while tropical and stone fruit notes emerge from the hop selection. Oat flakes lend a subtle creaminess and mouthfeel that prevents the beer from becoming thin, and a crisp finish keeps the palate refreshed.

◑ Finish

The finish is clean and relatively dry, with lingering citrus notes fading into a gentle hop bitterness. A light, refreshing quality persists without heavy residue, inviting another sip.
