A near-black porter built on pale, crystal, chocolate and roasted wheat malts, which carry coffee and dark chocolate on the nose and a soft roast bitterness across the palate. Dr Rudi is the only hop and keeps the bitterness earthy and low-key at 25 IBU, so the malt leads throughout. The body stays lighter than the colour suggests and the head sits thick and long. The recipe dates to the early 2000s and has not been changed since.
