Stevens Point Brewery was founded in 1857 by Frank Wahle and George Ruder in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and has brewed without interruption ever since, supplying Union troops during the Civil War and making near-beer and soft drinks through Prohibition. After decades under the Shibilski family and a spell with a Chicago import company from 1992, it returned to Wisconsin ownership in 2002. Point Special Lager remains the flagship; the brewery also makes hard ciders and sodas, brews under contract for other brands and opened a taproom in 2024.
