Steam Whistle Brewing
Steam Whistle Brewing works out of the John Street Roundhouse in downtown Toronto, a Canadian Pacific locomotive repair shop from 1929 at the foot of the CN Tower. Greg Taylor, Cam Heaps and Greg Cromwell, former colleagues at another Ontario microbrewery, drew up the plan on a canoe trip in 1998. The first beer followed in 2000. Apart from a short spell with additional styles that ended in 2022, the independent company has made a single beer, a Czech-style Pilsner from four ingredients, which the taproom also pours unfiltered. Beau's Brewing in Vankleek Hill now belongs to the group as well.
