U Medvídků in Prague's Old Town has been tied to beer since 1466, when Jan Nedwídek founded a brewery in the house; his name sounded so much like medvídek, 'little bear', that the bears stuck. Brewing ended in 1898, the house later hosted Prague's first Tingl-Tangl cabaret, and on 17 November 2004 a 250-litre microbrewery in the old malthouse revived the craft. Its unfiltered specialities are lagered in wooden barrels and served on site, beside a restaurant and a hotel.
