Mahanakhon Brewery
Mahanakhon takes its name from the traditional Thai name for Bangkok. Anthony 'Tony' Tumwattana, a self-taught homebrewer, founded the brand in 2014 after years of experimenting in the city's underground homebrew scene; co-founder Avi Yashaya has worked alongside him since 2016. Strict licensing rules meant the early beers were contract-brewed in Vietnam, and the very first pale ale came from Australia. Today the brand describes its beer as locally made in Thailand, and its colour-coded tall cans are a fixture in Thai supermarkets and convenience stores.
