Since 1869, beer has been brewed behind the listed brick walls on the Neisse in Görlitz, a plant that came through two world wars and 40 years of GDR. Fermentation is still open and done by hand, and the beers mature for a long time in vaulted cellars twelve metres deep at four to five degrees. All of them are brewed by hand by master brewers, from pilsner and wheat to bock and a licorice-toned dark beer. The company belongs to the Dr. Lohbeck & Dr. Lohbeck-Corvey Foundation.
