Award winningKnown for a full range of styles

Historic brand founded in 1875 by Ferdinando Sanvico — one of Italy's first breweries, predating Peroni and alongside Dreher and Wuhrer. The original Palazzo Silvestri brewery used snow from the Rocca Paolina's underground caves for refrigeration. Revived in 2013 by a group of passionate Umbrian beer lovers and immediately acclaimed: European Beer Star, Brussels Beer Challenge, and Birra dell'Anno multiple categories. Named Birrificio dell'Anno (Brewery of the Year) 2016. New brewery and taproom opened in Torgiano in 2019. Produces the 'Can Project' and 'Native' (local ingredients only) ranges, plus a Barley Wine aged in Lungarotti Torgiano Riserva wine barrels.

Their signature has to hold across very different styles — which makes the notes that do recur more telling, not less.

How they compare
Each beer measured against others of its own style, then averaged across the range. Compared with 586 other breweries making American Amber Ale and Imperial Stout.
Three beers is enough for a first read, not a full house style — one unusual beer moves this a lot.

Across 4 beers in 4 style families, none of Fabbrica della Birra Perugia's characters carry through the whole range — the mix of styles they brew is the signature here.
