Brauerei Fohrenburg has brewed in Bludenz, in Austria's westernmost state of Vorarlberg, since Ferdinand Gassner founded it in 1881; the rearing unicorn on its label is taken from the town's coat of arms. Brewing water comes from two of the brewery's own wells in the Silvretta-Arlberg massif, and a house propagation plant keeps one bottom- and one top-fermenting yeast strain. The juice producer Rauch owned the brewery from 2000; since 2020 Brau Union Österreich, part of Heineken, has held the majority and now almost all shares.
