More Hops Than Brains

Tap to rate

Ripe to overripe tropical fruit, pineapple and passion fruit, meets a hop load that began as a joke: around 40 grams of hops per litre went into this quad-hopped NEIPA, built from Citra Cryo, Mosaic Cryo and Dolcita Cryo. Pilsner malt, wheat and oats carry it. A Yankee & Kraut New England IPA from Ingolstadt, Bavaria, at 6.3% ABV from a 16° Plato wort.

◐ Taste

Entry is juicy and fruit-forward, with tropical notes carrying through the front palate. The mid-palate reveals the weight of forty grams of hops per litre—a measured bitterness that complements rather than dominates, finishing with pleasant herbal and citrus edges. The wheat and oat base provides creamy mouthfeel and subtle breadiness that balances the hop intensity.

◑ Finish

The finish is clean and moderately dry, with lingering citrus and hop character fading gradually over several seconds. A refreshing quality persists, inviting another sip rather than fatiguing the palate.
