🌍 Czechia · Czech Premium Pale Lager · One of 11 Czech Premium Pale Lagers in hopIQ

Dry-hopped, which is unusual in this range and gives it a bitterness the brewery calls unmistakable from the first mouthful. It grew out of brewmaster Petr Menšík's homebrewing experiments. The grist includes Bavarian and caramel malt alongside the floor-malted Pilsner base. It took gold in the Pilsner-type class at the Meiningers International Craft Beer Award in 2015.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Svijanský Rytíř

Appearance

A pale golden hue dominates the glass, with excellent clarity and a fine, persistent white head that builds confidently on the pour. The carbonation is lively and well-integrated, creating a steady stream of fine bubbles that sustains the collar's definition throughout the tasting.

Aroma

The nose leads with a pronounced hoppy character—herbal and grassy notes from the dry hopping create an unmistakable entry point. Beneath sits a refined malt foundation: soft caramel and floor-malted Pilsner grain offer subtle sweetness and breadth, while a clean fermentation allows these elements to speak without obstruction.

Taste

The palate opens with sharp, hoppy bitterness that defines the profile from the first mouthful—a bold statement for the Czech premium lager category. Mid-palate brings caramel and malty richness from the Bavarian grain, which balances rather than overcome the hop edge. The finish remains crisp and dry, with bitterness lingering cleanly without harshness.
