A deep ruby-brown pour with opaque depth and minimal light transmission, characteristic of the English Porter style. The dense, tan head settles to a persistent collar with notable lacing that clings to the glass walls. Carbonation is moderate and well-integrated, creating a composed and dignified visual presence.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with prominent roasted grain and dark chocolate, grounded by a subtle caramel sweetness. Beneath lie quiet herbal and woody notes from restrained bittering hops, with a whisper of espresso and cocoa powder that emerges as the beer warms. The overall impression is earthy and malt-driven, without aggressive or sharp edges.

The palate enters with a smooth, rounded maltiness that builds into flavors of toffee and caramel, then deepens into cocoa and roasted character at mid-palate. A gentle herbal bitterness emerges without harshness, balancing the sweetness with measured restraint. The body is rich yet approachable, drinking lighter than the color suggests.

The finish transitions cleanly to espresso and dark chocolate, with the herbal bitterness lingering pleasantly into a dry, spice-tinged aftertaste. Complexity persists without becoming astringent or overly warming despite the 5.8% ABV.
