Diversion Blanche by Danny Khezzar

Switzerland·Alcohol-Free Witbier
Tap to rate

Fresh and silky, a Belgian-inspired white infused with cold peach tea: peach, the citrus freshness typical of the style, a fruity touch, no added sugar and a clean finish. Pilsener and wheat malt, Mandarina Bavaria hops and a special alcohol-free yeast hold it at 0.5%. The peach iced tea was the idea of Danny Khezzar, chef at Geneva's starred Bayview and a 2023 Top Chef finalist.

◌ Aroma

Stone fruit leads immediately, with ripe peach notes from the cold-steeped tea infusion dominating the nose. Supporting this are the classic citrus and coriander aromatics of a Belgian white, alongside soft wheat malt undertones. The overall impression is fresh and summery, with no alcohol warmth or sharp edges.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with stone fruit and subtle citrus brightness, followed by a silky, almost creamy mid-palate driven by wheat malt and yeast character. Bitterness remains minimal at 14 IBU, allowing the peach and citrus to remain central. A clean, dry finish with no residual sweetness keeps the profile refreshing and sessionable.

◑ Finish

The aftertaste is brief and clean, with lingering peach and a whisper of wheat. No cloying sweetness or warm alcohol character interrupts the fade.

Serve at 5–8°C

Serve cold to preserve the delicate citrus and spice aromas. Too warm and the yeast esters become heavy — too cold and the coriander disappears.

Witbier glass

The tall, slender wheat beer glass holds the full 50cl pour and shows off the hazy golden colour. The wide mouth lets citrus and spice aromas drift upward freely.

Best consumed fresh. Citrus and spice notes fade after 3–4 months. Drink within 6 months of packaging.
