Athanor

Tap to rate

Athanor is a smoked helles: pilsner malt meets beechwood-smoked rauch malt from a favorite maltster in Bamberg, hopped lightly with German Tettnang and fermented with a Bavarian lager yeast. The smoke stays subtle rather than loud. At 4.8% it is a seasonal release, poured at both of Holy Mountain's taprooms in Seattle.

◌ Aroma

◐ Taste

The palate opens with light, clean malt character that transitions smoothly into the smoke's presence—smoky but never harsh or ashy. Mid-palate reveals a delicate sweetness and herbaceous hop bitterness in balance. The 22 IBU provide structure without assertiveness, allowing the interplay of malt and smoke to remain the focal point throughout.
