◎ Appearance

Baltic Dubbel presents in a warm chestnut brown with distinct red glints catching the light, a hallmark of its deep Maillard-derived color. A cream-colored head crowns the pour with solid retention, settling into fine lacing that clings to the glass throughout the session. The beer shows excellent clarity despite its full body and dark malt composition.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with dried stone fruits—plum, date, and raisin—layered beneath a subtle hazelnut backdrop that emerges on repeated nosings. Yeast esters contribute a faint spice and soft alcohol warmth without any harsh volatility. The complexity shifts gently as the glass warms, revealing deeper malt undertones that ground the fruity profile.

◐ Taste

The palate enters dry and structured despite the 8.5% ABV, with dark malts and yeast esters building a wine-like impression rather than cloying sweetness. Mid-palate brings forward malty depth and soft spice, underpinned by the restrained 15 IBU that allows fruit notes to remain open and defined. The body is full and rounded, delivering richness without heaviness or any sharp edges.

The finish extends moderately long with a lingering warmth and subtle fruit persistence that doesn't fade abruptly. A gentle drying sensation and faint roasted malt note linger on the palate, inviting reflection rather than immediate refreshment.

Serve at 10–12°C for the best flavour balance and aroma expression.

The wide mouth and heavy base promote head formation and channel rich aromatics toward the nose. Traditional for Belgian strong ales.
