◎ Appearance

Deep mahogany brown with dark garnet highlights, presenting near-opacity that speaks to the substantial roasted malt load. A dense, tan head forms readily and clings to the glass with persistent lacing. The carbonation is moderate and settled, befitting a contemplative sipper of this weight.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with toasted malt and roasted grain complexity, followed by distinct notes of dried dark fruit—raisin and plum—and a gentle spice backdrop of coriander and bay leaf. A subtle herbal undertone threads through, with no aggressive alcohol burn despite the 11% ABV, instead lending a warming alcohol presence that integrates with the malt.

◐ Taste

Entry is full and malty, with rich roasted grain anchoring the palate. Mid-palate develops layers of dark dried fruit and chocolate sweetness, balanced by restrained bitterness (22 IBU) and the herbal-spice complexity promised on the nose. The 11% alcohol provides structure without heat, while a subtle coriander spice lingers without dominating.

◑ Finish

The finish is long and warming, with roasted malt and dark fruit fading gradually alongside a dry, slightly herbal aftertaste. The alcohol's presence becomes more apparent in the close, leaving a gentle warmth and slight peppery dryness.

Serve at 10–12°C for the best flavour balance and aroma expression.

The wide mouth and heavy base promote head formation and channel rich aromatics toward the nose. Traditional for Belgian strong ales.
