Hawkers West Coast IPA

◎ Appearance

Clear, pale golden-amber body with bright, fine carbonation evident throughout. A white head forms readily and holds with modest Schaumhaftung, leaving delicate lace on the glass as the beer descends.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with citrus—grapefruit peel and orange zest—layered beneath a pronounced pine-resin character. Herbal, grassy notes emerge in the background, while the malt remains intentionally lean and clean, allowing the New Zealand and American hop varieties to dominate without competing sweetness.

◐ Taste

Entry is crisp and bitter, with citrus brightness immediately confronted by a dry, woody hop bitterness. The mid-palate sustains this tension: bitter, piney, and herbal notes build steadily, while the lean malt backbone refuses to soften or round the edges. The bitterness is unrelenting and integral to the beer's structure.

◑ Finish

Long and decidedly dry, with lingering bitterness that persists well beyond the swallow. The herbal-resinous character extends the aftertaste, leaving a clean, gripping final impression.

Serve at 8–11°C for the best flavour balance and aroma expression.

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.
