🌍 Germany · Dry-Hopped Lager · One of 18 Dry-Hopped Lagers in hopIQ

PankeGold 2.0 is the hop-forward seasonal version of the house PankeGold, tapped at Eschenbräu since 2018 and most recently in April 2026. The brewery hops it four times: at the start of the boil for bitterness, then at the end of the boil, at the end of fermentation and at the start of lagering for aroma. Earlier batches leaned on Citra with its fresh citrus scent; for 2026 the brewery calls it an ode to fragrant Australian hops. It pours golden and, like all the house beers, unfiltered.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for PankeGold 2.0

◎ Appearance

PankeGold 2.0 presents a pale golden hue with bright, translucent clarity typical of an unfiltered lager allowed to settle. A modest white head forms on the pour and clings to the glass with fine lacing as the beer recedes. Carbonation is present but restrained, consistent with the house style's approachable character.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with prominent Australian hop character—citrus and herbal florals dominate, backed by a subtle stone-fruit undertone. Beneath the hop-forward aromatics lies a clean, understated malt base with no discernible yeast phenolics or esters. Four-point hopping strategy (bittering, flavour, late fermentation, and cold-side additions) builds a layered but harmonious bouquet without aggressive resinousness.

◐ Taste

Entry is crisp and light, delivering the promised hop aroma into flavour without heavy bitterness. The mid-palate shows a delicate balance between restrained malt sweetness and dry hop bite; at 22 IBU, bitterness remains gentle and finishes clean rather than harsh. A touch of stone fruit and subtle herbal notes emerge mid-sip, testament to the late-addition and lagering-phase dry-hopping.

◑ Finish

The finish is dry and relatively short, leaving only a faint hop-derived bitterness and a whisper of citrus on the palate. No lingering malt sweetness or astringency mars the clean conclusion.
