🌍 United States · Spiced Beer · One of 6 Spiced Beers in hopIQ

The brewery's Christmas Ale, brewed with honey, ginger and cinnamon, then aged for more than six months in bourbon barrels and released each October alongside the regular version. The grist of two-row malt, wheat, Crystal 45, Special Roast and roasted barley is hopped with Mt. Hood and Cascade. It pours a slightly hazy copper to dark amber. Ginger and cinnamon still lead the nose, joined by honey, vanilla and oak from the barrel and a hint of dark cherry. The body is smooth and medium, a light bitterness keeps the sweetness in check, and the finish warms.

◌ Aroma

Ginger and cinnamon dominate the nose with bright spice character, complemented by honey's warm sweetness. Vanilla and oak from the bourbon barrel aging add depth, while a subtle dark cherry note rounds out the aromatic profile. The spice remains forward without overshadowing the secondary barrel-derived complexity.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with balanced spiced warmth, the ginger and cinnamon providing structure without harshness. Medium body carries flavors smoothly across the tongue; a light bitterness from Mt. Hood and Cascade hops restrains the honey sweetness and prevents cloying. The bourbon barrel influence emerges in the mid-palate with vanilla and subtle oak tannins.

◑ Finish

The finish is clean and warming, with the alcohol heat gently building rather than sharp. Spice notes linger softly, fading into a pleasant oak-tinged aftertaste.
