Füchschen Weihnachtsbier

🌍 Germany · Altbier · One of 29 Altbiers in hopIQ

Füchschen Weihnachtsbier is the brewery's seasonal Altbier and returns every year around St Martin's Day. At 5.5 percent alcohol it is stronger and fuller than the regular Alt while staying top-fermented. Caramel and dried fruit such as raisin and plum sit on a rounded, bready malt body, and a pleasant bitterness keeps the sweetness in balance through a warming, slightly dry finish. It is sold in limited numbers at the brewhouse, and on Christmas Eve it is poured fresh from the cask.

Smooth and rounded entry, with the bready, full malt body immediately apparent on the palate. Dried fruit and caramel sweetness develop in the mid-palate, balanced by a pleasant, measured bitterness that prevents cloying.
