Low Key IPA

Tap to rate

Lush tropical hop flavours in a very small beer. Low Key IPA is 2.8% ABV, a big IPA in a little IPA's shoes, hopped with Krush, Eclipse, Mosaic and Krush Cryo over 2-row, wheat and acidulated malts. Fitting this much signature hop flavour into so little alcohol was no easy feat, and the brewers are not here to boast about it. Can art by Will Elias.

AI-generated sensory profile for Low Key IPA

◎ Appearance

Low Key IPA presents a pale golden hue with excellent transparency and fine carbonation throughout. The head forms quickly and clings to the glass with persistent lacing, demonstrating good foam stability despite the beer's modest alcohol content. The visual character reveals a well-crafted, clean pour with no haziness.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with vibrant tropical fruit esters—mango, passion fruit, and papaya—courtesy of the Krush, Eclipse, Mosaic, and Krush Cryo hops. A subtle wheat malt sweetness underpins the aromatic profile, while citrus zest notes add brightness. The bouquet is lifted and inviting without any harsh solvent or alcohol burn.

◐ Taste

Entry is clean and crisp, allowing the tropical hop character to expand across the mid-palate with papaya and stone fruit flavors. A gentle bitterness develops, integrated rather than aggressive, and the wheat malt foundation provides a light, almost dry body. The finish maintains clarity and drinkability despite the substantial hop load compressed into 2.8% ABV.

◑ Finish

The finish is refreshingly short and clean, fading to a subtle citrus and hop lingering that invites the next sip. No warming alcohol notes or cloying sweetness remain.

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same tropical, hoppy, light character as Low Key IPA will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
