Jasper

Tap to rate

Citrus leads in this 7.8% hazy double IPA, a notch lighter than Fidens' 8.5% doubles, and Citra is its only hop from the first addition to the last. Co-founder Steve has brewed the recipe since his homebrewing days and tweaked it many times. Jasper with Nelson builds on it by adding Nelson to the dry hop; the line also includes Jasper with Peacharine.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Jasper

◎ Appearance

Jasper presents a hazy golden-yellow body with substantial turbidity from suspension through the hefe, characteristic of the style. A dense, off-white head forms on the pour and maintains moderate Schaumhaftung down the glass. The beer catches light with a soft, diffuse glow rather than transparency.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with bright citrus—predominantly grapefruit and orange zest from the Citra hop—layered with subtle peach stone and tropical undertones. Behind the forward hop character sits a soft, clean Malz base that allows the aromatics to dominate without competing. The overall impression is fresh and inviting, with resinous edges that suggest moderate noble hop character.

◐ Taste

Entry is bright and juicy, with citrus and stone fruit driving the palate immediately. Mid-palate develops a creamy, full-bodied mouthfeel that balances the 50 IBU bitterness—present but restrained, finishing more herbal-resinous than sharply bitter. The 7.8% ABV sits well-integrated, adding subtle warmth without heat or harshness.

◑ Finish

The finish is dry and refreshing, with lingering citrus and a gentle resinous fade. Aftertaste leans toward grapefruit zest and a whisper of peach, fading cleanly without astringency.

Finding a similar Hazy IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same hazy, citrusy, hoppy character as Jasper will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
