◎ Appearance

Deep garnet-black with an opaque core, characteristic of the style's 40 SRM depth. A dense, tan-brown head forms with moderate retention and fine Schaumhaftung down the glass. The beer presents as full and substantial, though the body reads lighter than its 14.2% ABV might initially suggest.

◌ Aroma

Molasses sweetness leads the nose, joined by a distinct spicy rye edge that cuts through the richness. Bourbon barrel aging contributes vanilla and toasted oak notes, layered beneath cocoa and dark chocolate-forward wood character. Brown sugar and roasted malt complete a complex, multi-layered aromatic profile.

◐ Taste

Entry emphasizes molasses sweetness balanced by rye's peppery bite, with vanilla from oak developing mid-palate. Cocoa and chocolate-like wood notes provide structure and depth, while dark roasted malt contributes a subtle earthiness. The 65 IBU bitterness is present but restrained, allowing the barrel-forward character and adjunct sweetness to dominate the palate.

◑ Finish

The finish extends with bourbon warmth and alcohol presence, drying slightly more than previous vintages. A clean, measured aftertaste allows the vanilla and wood spice to linger without harshness, the overall impression becoming progressively drier and lighter-bodied as the beer warms.

Slightly warmer than you might expect. 10–13°C lets the roasted malt, chocolate and coffee notes open up fully.
