Rum Jockey

Tap to rate

Rum Jockey is an imperial stout at 13.5 %, very strong even for the style. The current batch, launched in autumn 2026, is a collaboration with Deveroast, a roastery in nearby Botley, and is finished with its Mexican roast. Coffee leads the flavour, with a rum note alongside. It is a rebrew of an earlier Rum Jockey of the same strength and is poured on draught at the Wool House and Raven & Bine. Like all Dancing Man beers it is unfined.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with bitter coffee and dark chocolate notes that persist through the mid-palate. Rum flavour threads throughout with warming alcohol and a slight sweetness that prevents harshness. At 65 IBU, bitterness is substantial but balanced by the beer's full body and malt backbone; the 13.5% ABV contributes weight and heat without overwhelming.
