🌍 Spain · Double IPA · One of 163 Double IPAs in hopIQ

Posidonia pays tribute to the seagrass meadows of the bay of Altea, a flowering marine plant that stores more carbon than a tropical forest of the same area. This double IPA is hopped with Sabro and Sorachi Ace and pours an opaque yellow-orange with copper glints under a well-retained white head. The nose shows fresh coconut, ripe pineapple and clear herbal and woody notes. Medium-full and silky, it tastes markedly tropical, close to a piña colada, over a clean, resinous bitterness.

The palate is medium-full and silky in texture, carrying the tropical character through to a piña colada-like profile on entry and mid-palate. The clean, resinous bitterness emerges with balance and restraint, providing counterpoint without overshadowing the fruit-driven flavor progression typical of the Double IPA style.

About Double IPA

Style guide · what to expect · how to find alternatives

What is a Double IPA?

IPAs are hop-forward ales with 5.5–7.5% ABV and IBU 40–70+. Bold hop aroma — citrus, tropical, resinous — with firm bitterness and a dry, clean finish.

Finding a similar Double IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same tropical, fruity, resinous character as Posidonia will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
