Tap to rate

A white beer with a spicy flavour, brewed with lemon and coriander seeds. Vrijwit is one of the brewery's two low-alcohol beers, with just 0.5% alcohol, and uses the same ingredients as the original IJwit: Amsterdam tap water, barley and wheat malt, and hops. Brewed in Amsterdam, in the former bathhouse the brewery has called home since 1985.

◎ Appearance

Vrijwit presents a pale straw yellow hue with a cloudy, hazy appearance derived from its wheat malt bill and fine yeast suspension. A dense white foam head forms readily and clings to the glass with notable persistence. Bright carbonation animates the body with fine, rising bubbles.

A clean, fresh character prevails with minimal yeast esters, allowing the botanical and grain aromatics to remain in focus. The overall effect is herbaceous and gently spiced rather than perfumed.
