La Crispissima

Netherlands·Italian Pilsner
Tap to rate

An Italian Pilsner at 5% ABV, dry-hopped for fresh, herbal aromas on a crisp, easy-drinking base. La Crispissima follows a style that began in the 1990s, when Italian brewers gave a classic German pilsner their own twist by dry-hopping it. It is a one-off from Brouwerij Kees in Middelburg, in Zeeland, brewed together with Folkinge Brew.

AI-generated sensory profile for La Crispissima

◎ Appearance

La Crispissima presents a pale golden hue with excellent clarity and fine carbonation that produces a white, persistent head with good lacing. The beer's pale straw color is typical of the Italian Pilsner style, and the head retention suggests a well-balanced grain and hop structure.

Noble hop aromatics are prominent—grassy, slightly floral notes with a whisper of citrus pith—while delicate Pilsner malt provides a soft, grainy foundation without overwhelming the foreground.

◐ Taste

The palate opens clean and crisp, with a light malt sweetness that immediately cedes to hoppy bitterness. Mid-palate layers herbal, slightly grassy flavors that persist without heaviness, while the 35 IBUs provide structure and grip without excessive harshness. The finish is dry and mineral-forward, characteristic of the German Pilsner foundation given an Italian dry-hop reinterpretation.

◑ Finish

The aftertaste is short to medium, leaving behind a pleasant herbal dryness and subtle noble-hop spice on the back palate. The beer maintains its refreshing character through the finish without lingering sweetness.

Serve at 4–7°C

Serve well-chilled at 4–6°C for maximum crispness. A pilsner served too warm loses its defining snap.

Pilsner glass

The tall, narrow pilsner glass preserves carbonation and showcases the golden clarity that defines the style.

Drink fresh and cold. Pilsners do not improve with age — within 3 months of packaging is ideal.
