Brooklyn Bel Air Sour

🌍 United States · Dry-Hopped Sour · One of 4 Dry-Hopped Sours in hopIQ

Bel Air Sour moved into the year-round range at the request of drinkers. It is soured with the brewery's own Lactobacillus strain and then generously dry-hopped with Amarillo, alongside Simcoe. A bright jolt of tartness opens the glass before giving way to tropical fruit, grapefruit and a hint of lime zest from the hops. Pale barley and wheat malt keep the body light and slightly hazy, the acidity stays gentle rather than sharp, and the beer closes crisp and dry.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with a crisp, lemony tartness from the Lactobacillus fermentation, followed by distinct tropical fruit notes—pineapple and passionfruit—layered with grapefruit zest. The Amarillo and Simcoe hops contribute a subtle herbal complexity without overshadowing the primary fruit and acid character.
