Triple Hop

Tap to rate

Golden, with a rich malt backbone beautifully balanced by a marmalade bitterness and layers of tropical fruits. The hop character is citrusy and the beer is malty underneath. All three hops are American: Summit, Sabro and Idaho-7, on Maris Otter, Caramalt and wheat malts. Part of Batemans' grand tour of the great hop-growing countries, here at 5.3% in the 500ml bottle.

◐ Taste

Entry brings a soft malt richness bolstered by Maris Otter and Caramalt, followed quickly by marmalade bitterness and layered tropical fruit esters across the mid-palate. The 48 IBUs assert themselves as a measured, lingering bitterness without harshness, while the wheat component adds a subtle creaminess that balances the hop intensity.

◑ Finish

The finish is clean and refreshing, with citrus and herbal notes fading into a dry, bitter aftertaste. The bitterness trails for a moderate length without becoming astringent.

Serve at 8–11°C

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.

About IPA

Style guide · what to expect · how to find alternatives

What is a IPA?

IPAs are hop-forward ales with 5.5–7.5% ABV and IBU 40–70+. Bold hop aroma — citrus, tropical, resinous — with firm bitterness and a dry, clean finish.

Finding a similar IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same tropical, malty, citrusy character as Triple Hop will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
