Bar

Tap to rate

Bar is an imperial stout brewed with a double mash from English and German malts, oats and lactose, then cold-conditioned on specialty coffee from Bahia in Brazil, Ecuadorian cacao beans and Bourbon vanilla pods. The body is full, very dense, oily and velvety. Almond and caramel from the coffee merge with the nutty and floral side of the cacao, and a light touch of vanilla ties the two together.

AI-generated sensory profile for Bar

◎ Appearance

Deep black-brown, opaque and impenetrable to light. A dense, persistent tan head forms and clings to the glass with strong lacing. The body is visibly thick and syrupy, with minimal carbonation evident as fine, slow-rising bubbles.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with roasted coffee and dark chocolate, layered with subtle nuttiness and a delicate floral undertone from the cacao. Vanilla emerges as a gentle modifier, softening the roasted grain character without dominating. English and German malt contribute earthy, slightly sweet background notes.

◐ Taste

The palate is full and velvety, with oats and lactose creating a luxurious, oily mouthfeel. Coffee and caramel interplay in the mid-palate, where the Bahian coffee's acidity meets Ecuadorian cacao's nutty complexity. Bourbon vanilla threads through both, while a measured bitterness (65 IBU) emerges without harshness, providing structure to the sweet foundation.

◑ Finish

The finish is long and warming, with lingering chocolate, coffee, and a touch of vanilla almond character. Residual sweetness fades gradually, leaving a dry cocoa impression on the palate.
