The nose leads with layered barrel influence—toasted oak, vanilla, and vanillin emerge alongside Scotch whisky notes and a warm brandy undertone. Beneath the spirit-forward aromatics, roasted malt presents cocoa and dark chocolate, with a subtle licorice thread weaving through. The 15-month barrel age has well-integrated the spirit character without overwhelming the base beer.

Entry is rich and full-bodied, with roasted grain forming the foundation and barrel tannins adding structured dryness. Mid-palate reveals dark fruit—plum and raisin—alongside chocolate, coffee, and a warming spice from both the malt profile and spirit interaction. Bitterness is restrained at 40 IBU, allowing the complexity to unfold rather than asserting hop character; the finish lingers with tannin-driven warmth.

The finish is long and warming, with a gentle alcohol presence (12% ABV) providing depth without heat. Residual licorice and oak tannins persist on the palate, creating a slightly dry, sophisticated aftertaste.
