The surface appears almost lacquered, with minimal carbonation visible—appropriate for an aged imperial stout of this caliber.

The nose leads with roasted barley and dark chocolate, followed by prominent oak and vanilla from extended whisky cask maturation. Beneath these primary notes lie secondary impressions of dried stone fruit, coffee grounds, and a warming alcohol vapor that sits pleasantly in the nostrils. The Highland malt whisky character emerges gradually, adding layers of toasted grain and subtle spice without any sharp solvent edge.

The palate enters with intense roast and cocoa, followed by a rich mid-palate where barrel-derived vanilla and oak integrate seamlessly with deep coffee and licorice notes. The 10.3% ABV creates a full, smooth mouthfeel that coats without harshness, while the 65 IBU bitterness anchors the sweetness of caramel and chocolate without dominating. The whisky influence adds a gentle spice and oak tannin structure that evolves across the tongue.
