The brewery introduced a light top-fermented beer in 1906, which was first advertised as 'echt Kölsch' in 1918. On January 1, 2022, Brauerei zur Malzmühle took over Gebr. Sünner GmbH & Co. KG, while the Köln-Kalk brewhouse, restaurant, and beer garden continue to operate under the Sünner name.
