Meinel-Bräu is a medium-sized private brewery and distillery located in the city of Hof in Upper Franconia, Bavaria. Brewing and serving rights of the Meinel family in Hof are documented since 1731, making it the last brewery in Hof still in family hands. In 1902, Georg Meinel built a new brewhouse at the current location on Alte Plauener Straße. The brewery is today run in the 13th generation by sisters Gisela and Monika Meinel-Hansen, the first women to lead the company. It produces around 20,000 hectoliters annually, including the Doppelbock Absolvinator brewed at the start of Lent.
