Kiuchi Brewery
Kiuchi Brewery is a multi-generational Japanese brewery founded in 1823 in Naka, Ibaraki Prefecture, originally established by village headman Kiuchi Gihei as a sake and shochu producer. In 1996, following a liberalisation of Japanese microbrewing laws, Kiuchi expanded into craft beer and launched its internationally acclaimed Hitachino Nest Beer range. Many of the Hitachino Nest beers combine European brewing techniques with traditional Japanese ingredients and barrel-ageing methods, including maturation in shochu casks. The brewery has since further diversified into Japanese whisky, opening the Yasato Distillery in 2020.
