Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant was founded in 1996 by Kevin Finn, Mark Edelson, and Kevin Davies, opening its first location on Main Street in Newark, Delaware. Named after the highest hill in Delaware and site of the Revolutionary War Battle of Cooch's Bridge, the company grew into a multi-state brewpub chain with locations across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and beyond. In October 2025 the company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, citing over $20 million in debt, which resulted in the closure of all remaining locations. However, in April 2026 a group of investors — including original founders — purchased back the brand and five locations, with the Center City Philadelphia brewpub reopening as the flagship.
