Beau's was founded in 2006 by father and son Tim and Steve Beauchesne in Vankleek Hill, a farming village in Eastern Ontario near the Quebec border; the first pint of Lug Tread was poured on Canada Day. The brewery built its name on this Kölsch-style lagered ale, on organic ingredients and on an employee share plan. Since 2022 it has belonged to Toronto's Steam Whistle Brewing. The taproom in Vankleek Hill remains open and pours small-batch exclusives alongside the five core beers.
