Founded in 1621 by Augustinian monks at the foot of the Mönchsberg in Salzburg's Mülln neighbourhood. Brews only one beer — the Märzen — using the original recipe, brewed largely by hand, open-fermented, and with the last traditional cooling vessel (Kühlschiff) in Austria. The Bräustübl is Austria's largest beer hall: 5,000m² indoors plus 1,400 seats in the beer garden. Beer served directly from wooden barrels into stone steins — a tradition unbroken for 400 years.
