Abita Brewing Company
Louisiana's most famous craft brewery, founded in 1986 in Abita Springs on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Named after the local Choctaw word for the artesian spring water that flows beneath the town. Abita was one of America's first craft breweries and remains one of the largest independent craft brewers in the South. Their Purple Haze raspberry lager is one of the US's most recognised craft beers.
