The aroma weaves together oxidative Port-wine richness — dried figs, raisins, and toasted walnut — with the resinous, caramel backbone characteristic of the style. On the palate, luscious dark fruit and toffee meet roasted red malt depth, while nearly two and a half years in tawny port wood imparts a silky, nutty sweetness that winds gracefully through the resinous hop character. The finish is long, warming, and gently tannic, with lingering notes of dried cherry and dark chocolate. A bold, contemplative beer.
