Nobody's Birthday presents as a deep, opaque black pour with minimal light penetration—the hallmark of a fully realized Imperial Stout. A thin mocha-tinted collar forms at the crown, settling into delicate lacing that traces the glass as the beer is consumed. The body is dense and viscous, with minimal visible carbonation.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with layered complexity: rich dark chocolate and roasted espresso coffee dominate the foreground, supported by charred oak from extended bourbon barrel contact. Beneath these primary notes lie warm vanilla and caramel sweetness, along with subtle undertones of dried dark fruit that emerge as the beer warms slightly. The bourbon influence is present but never sharp—integrated and polished.

◐ Taste

The palate unfolds with bittersweet cocoa and toasted malt providing a substantial entry, followed by a creamy, full-bodied mid-palate that carries notes of dried dark fruit and charred wood. The 65 IBU provide measured bitterness that balances the inherent sweetness without dominating; the dual-malt foundation (English and German) creates a refined complexity that evolves through the tasting experience.

The finish is notably long and smoky, with lingering toffee and espresso notes that persist for several minutes. A gentle sweetness remains in the aftertaste without cloying, allowing the bourbon barrel and roasted character to define the close.
