JZP

Tap to rate

This oat-free double NEIPA is dry and punchy, yet smooth and fruity, with an aroma that jumps out of the glass and a considerable bitterness that many hazies lack. The name honours Jiřího z Poděbrad square in Prague, where Sibeeria's founders introduced locals to craft beer through the BeerGeek bar and shop, which eventually led to the brewery.

◎ Appearance

Pale straw to light gold in colour with pronounced haze from suspended yeast and grain proteins, characteristic of the style. The head forms with moderate density and maintains reasonable retention, with delicate lacing around the glass. Carbonation appears lively, evident in the fine bubble structure throughout the body.

◌ Aroma

The nose immediately presents bold citrus and tropical fruit notes, with grapefruit and mango jumping forward ahead of the glass even reaches the nose. Noble hops provide herbal and piney undertones that frame the fruit without overwhelming it. Subtle oat-derived softness in the background prevents the aroma from becoming sharp or one-dimensional.

◐ Taste

Entry is smooth and full-bodied despite the declared oat-free base, with a fruity sweetness that gives way quickly to a pronounced bitterness on the mid-palate. This bitterness is clean and well-integrated rather than harsh, setting JZP apart from many hazies that shy away from hopping rates. The finish dries considerably, leaving a refreshing, grassy hop residue that invites another sip.

◑ Finish

The aftertaste is dry and lingering, with citrus pith and spent herb notes persisting for several minutes. There is no cloying sweetness, only the clean, slightly astringent impression of noble Edelhopfen.

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.
