Schwarzwald Michel Weizen

Tap to rate

The wheat beer companion to the Schwarzwald Michel Helles, with the same Black Forest woodcutter on its label. It is sold in half-litre bottles and poured on draught in many hotels and inns across the northern Black Forest. The brewery publishes no tasting notes of its own. Tasters describe a soft, full-flavoured hefeweizen with plenty of ripe banana over a sweetish malt base, moderate carbonation and just enough bitterness to keep it refreshing.

The aroma remains inviting and accessible, with no aggressive hop character to distract from the fruit-forward presentation.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with a sweet, full-bodied malt base that carries the banana character through cleanly. Moderate bitterness arrives mid-palate—just enough noble hop character to provide structure and prevent cloying sweetness. The finish balances the wheat beer's natural softness with a subtle, refreshing bite that invites another sip.

◑ Finish

Tall and narrow at the base, flaring at the top — designed to hold the abundant foam of a wheat beer while showcasing its hazy golden body.
