Belgian Red

Tap to rate

Cherry runs through both flavor and bouquet of Belgian Red with real intensity; it pours ruby red with a medium, highly carbonated body. It is brewed with whole Montmorency cherries from Door County, Wisconsin-farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, balanced by hops aged a full year in-house. Door County cherries in every bottle make it so distinctly Wisconsin that a patent was applied for, and the result is pitched as a cross between wine and beer.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Belgian Red

◎ Appearance

A bright ruby red body pours with a medium, tightly woven head that holds with persistence. High carbonation creates a lively visual presence, with fine bubbles rising steadily through the clear liquid. The color exhibits the characteristic depth of a fruit beer built on Belgian roasted barley, neither pale nor opaque.

◌ Aroma

Fresh Montmorency cherry dominates the nose with both dark fruit undertones and a subtle vinous character that bridges wine and beer. Beneath the fruit lies a gentle roasted Malz foundation from Belgian barleys, complemented by a faint wheat grain note. The year-aged hops contribute a refined herbal restraint rather than aggressive florality.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with concentrated cherry fruit and a pleasant tartness that cuts through the wheat-derived sweetness. A subtle roasted character from Belgian barley provides body and complexity without heaviness, while the low IBU allows fruit and malt to coexist without sharp bitterness. The finish remains crisp and refreshing, with the whole cherry character persisting cleanly through the swallow.

◑ Finish

The aftertaste is dry and moderately long, with cherry notes fading into a soft grain sweetness and a whisper of herbal hops. No astringency or harsh residue remains; the finish feels natural and food-friendly.
