Mohrenbräu Eisbock

Tap to rate

Forest honey, dried grapes and dried fruit meet marzipan, plum and sherry, with pronounced caramel notes and an exceptionally long finish over fine bubbles. In Kulmbach, casks left outside froze partly, and their concentrate was the first Eisbock; here a limited vintage is brewed each year, matured in the bottle and cellarable for ten years, at 10% and 24° Stammwürze.

◐ Taste

The palate enters rich and full-bodied, with caramel sweetness balanced by restrained noble hop bitterness (35 IBU). Dried grape and marzipan flavors develop through the mid-palate, evolving into sherry-like warmth without harsh alcohol bite. The malt backbone is substantial yet refined, delivering complexity rather than simple sweetness.

◑ Finish

Exceptionally long and warming, with lingering caramel and dried fruit notes that persist well into the aftertaste. Fine carbonation supports the finish, gradually fading to a dry, satisfying conclusion that invites contemplation.
