Opaque jet black with deep burgundy highlights when held to light, revealing the beer's impressive depth and body. A thick, creamy tan head forms and persists admirably, indicating excellent malt structure and proper carbonation. The velvety texture is immediately apparent in the glass.

◌ Aroma

The nose is dominated by roasted espresso and dark chocolate with secondary notes of molasses and burnt sugar that suggest careful kilning. A subtle licorice quality emerges alongside bourbon-like warming alcohol, creating a complex and inviting bouquet. The aroma is rich and approachable despite the beer's formidable strength.

The palate opens with intense roasted malt character complemented by decadent cocoa and coffee notes that build mid-palate. A leather-like dryness and subtle licorice provide complexity and prevent the sweetness from overwhelming. The 60 IBUs provide gentle bitterness that balances the rich maltiness without dominating.

◑ Finish

The finish is remarkably smooth and warming, with the 12.6% ABV contributing a pleasant alcohol heat rather than harshness. Dark chocolate and espresso notes linger pleasantly on the palate, inviting another sip and rewarding contemplative appreciation.
