Libertas Berliner Weisse 10

Tap to rate

Champagne of the North was the nickname of this northern German style. The first sip shows a distinctive fruity acidity from Lactobacillus fermentation, and together with the high carbonation it makes for maximum refreshment. Thanks to the deep attenuation the finish is dry. Brewed seasonally with White Swaen, Pilsner malt and Weyermann sour malt.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with assertive fruity acidity that integrates seamlessly with the wheat's soft, pillowy texture. Mid-palate develops a tart, slightly funky character from the sour malt, while the exceptionally low bitterness (7 IBU) keeps the focus on bright acidity and refreshment rather than hop presence. The high attenuation drives toward a bone-dry finish.
