Ambar 10

Spain·Belgian Strong Golden Ale
Tap to rate

Ambar 10 was the first of the Ambiciosas, the brewery's creative series, and it stayed in the permanent range. Ten hop varieties from nine countries go into it. Orange in colour, with a faint hint of wood in the aroma, it shows a sweet freshness with citrus notes and the herbal world of hops. The body is unctuous and persistent, and the bitterness stays below what you would expect.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with a distinctive herbal character from the blend of ten hop varieties, grounded by a subtle woodiness that adds complexity without dominating. ◐ Taste

The palate enters with notable sweetness balanced against the herbal and citrus notes from the hops, creating an approachable yet complex entry. Mid-palate shows a unctuous, full-bodied mouthfeel with lingering hop bitterness that remains restrained—well below what the beer's strength might suggest. Spice and subtle bready undertones emerge alongside the citrus, with the woodiness providing a drying counterpoint to the sweetness.

◑ Finish

The finish is dry and moderately persistent, with the herbal bitterness and wood character lingering pleasantly on the palate. The sweetness recedes gracefully, leaving a clean, slightly spicy aftertaste.

Warmer than most — 12–14°C. The fruity esters, spice and warming alcohol need room to breathe.

Goblet

The wide mouth and heavy base promote head formation and channel rich aromatics toward the nose. Traditional for Belgian strong ales.
