Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Alepou

◎ Appearance

Alepou presents a light golden hue with a pale amber undertone, characteristic of its modest 8 SRM. The unpasteurised nature renders it naturally hazy, with suspended yeast particles lending cloudiness rather than crystalline clarity. A dense white head forms readily and clings to the glass with good lacing, while fine carbonation maintains steady effervescence.

◌ Aroma

The nose is dominated by vibrant hop character—citrus zest and tropical stone fruit leap forward, with hints of pine and herbal undertones. A clean, grainy Malz foundation supports the aromatic profile, with yeast-derived esters contributing subtle fruity notes. The overall impression is fresh and inviting, with no off-odours typical of well-executed unpasteurised ales.

◐ Taste

Entry is full-bodied and malty, with a pronounced sweetness that balances the beer's inherent bitterness. Mid-palate develops significant hop intensity—tropical and citric flavours persist alongside a dry, resinous quality. The 60 IBU bitterness resolves into a clean, pleasantly astringent finish without harshness, while the all-malt bill provides depth and body.

◑ Finish

The finish is medium-length with lingering bitterness and a dry palate impression. Hop character fades gradually, leaving behind a clean, slightly mineral aftertaste with faint citrus notes.

Serve at 8–11°C

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.

What is a IPA?

IPAs are hop-forward ales with 5.5–7.5% ABV and IBU 40–70+. Bold hop aroma — citrus, tropical, resinous — with firm bitterness and a dry, clean finish.

Finding a similar IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same hoppy, full-bodied, bitter character as Alepou will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
