Super DuPA

Tap to rate

Fruit-driven IPA with grapefruit, tropical fruit, melon, papaya and lime, on a lightly malty base. DuPA stands for Dutch Pale Ale: like Haarlem's historic breweries 700 years ago, Jopen used several grains here and added American hops for a modern IPA profile. Cascade, Ekuanot and Hüll Melon, 5.5% ABV, 35 EBU.

AI-generated sensory profile for Super DuPA

◎ Appearance

Super DuPA presents a light golden hue with excellent clarity and a fine, persistent white head that leaves delicate lacing on the glass. The carbonation is brisk and well-integrated, creating a lively visual presence without excessive effervescence. The beer's translucent body reflects its moderate strength and the balance between pale Malz and assertive hopping.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with bright citrus notes—notably grapefruit and lime—layered over tropical fruit aromatics of papaya and melon that emerge from the Cascade, Ekuanot, and Hüll Melon hops. Beneath the fruit-forward character lies a subtle grainy Malz foundation that grounds the composition without dominating. Resinous hop oil nuances add texture to the aromatic profile.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with clean, fruity hop character that fills the mouth with melon and papaya sweetness before transitioning to citric bitterness in the mid-palate. The lightly malty backbone provides sufficient body and a touch of grain sweetness that prevents the beer from becoming thin or overly resinous. Bitterness builds steadily to a moderate, dry finish without harshness.

◑ Finish

The finish is crisp and refreshing, with lingering citrus and a subtle resinous dryness that invites the next sip. Aftertaste remains fruit-inflected rather than sticky or cloying, characteristic of a well-crafted modern pale ale.

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.
